About this object

The Buddhist Bodhisattva of Mercy, Guanyin, is carved in yellow jade. She is dressed in flowing robes with full sleeves. Her waist has a large belt around it to which she holds the end of the belt in front of her. Her hair has a large topknot of three sections to which a flower is attached. In her left hand she holds above her head a branch with two pieces of fruit that looks connected to her hair.
