His head is turned to the front, and his left arm grips the arm of the chair. His right hand supports a book on top of the table. He wears a white wig, cravat, and lace jabot and a dark suit. His left hand holds a sword that extends over his arm and below his hand. The background has a billowing drapery and to the left is seen part of a window. He wears glasses.
