About this object

Christ, dressed in a pinkish-red chiton and a blue, gold-shot hymation that flies up behind him, is shown trampling the Gates of Hell and grasping the outstretched right hand of the kneeling Adam. Kneeling behind Christ is Eve, draped in a red maphorion. Christ stands in a perfectly round mandorla dotted with gold stars. Behind them stand eight haloed onlookers representing Old Testament prophets. In the background is a mountainous landscape with a building in the upper right. Donor figures of St. Iakov in pink and green and St. Anne in red and green stand in the left and right polia respectively. On the verso two carved transverse shponki run the width of the board.
