About this object

Portrait of a young woman seated three quarters length. Her body is turned to the right and her face is turned forwards. Her dark hair is swept up at the back and arranged in a bow. A band circles her head between the back arrangement and the front part of her hair which shows curls arranged on either side of her face. She is wearing a blue dress that is off the shoulder. It has puffed short sleeves, lace edging around the neck and cuff, and a gathered bodice . She wears a black belt with a buckle around her waist. She wears a yellow shawl across her left shoulder. It drapes over her left arm and across her front. She leans on a stone pillar with her left arm. Her left hand has a ring on the first finger. Behind her is a blue sky with clouds, and to the right is a grove of trees or greenery.
