About this object

A pencil drawing showing Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, in full length seated on a sofa facing to the left. Her hands are in her lap. She is wearing a bouffant evening gown in satin cream with gold embroidery. It is one of the gowns worn for the official tour of South Africa. She wears a sash across her left shoulder, and tied at her waist. On the sash is the Ribbon of the Garter. The tiara she wears is one of the state jewels designed by the Prince Consort Albert for Queen Victoria. She also wears a necklace. The background is sketched in, indicating a drape or curtain.
