About this object

Painting shows a scene inside a barn. There are about eight sheep grouped with about five chickens. The barn has an open window to the left with a crooked shutter hanging from it and a shaft of light entering the interior. There is a pillar in the left center of the painting from which hangs a lantern and some rope. In the right background, there is a doorway cut in the wall with a door hanging half open. The sheep and chickens are grouped in front of the pillar. To the far left is a bale of hay, in front of which stand three chickens with some chicks. Next to them is a grouping of about six sheep, some standing and the others lying down. Behind them and to the right is another grouping of sheep, but are less defined. To the right front, is one sheep, lying down with its back to the viewer. To its left is a basin of water, next to which stand two roosters.
