About this object

Three large and one small white cotton pillow cases with an edging of Point de Paris bobbin lace. The lace edging is 3 1/4 inches deep on the sides and 8 inches deep in the corners on the three large cases, while the small case has an edging of 1 1/2 inches on the sides and 4 inches on the corners. The design is of flowers and leaves. The main body of the cases show the Davies coat of arms with the word INTEGRITAS at the bottom of the shield. This is worked in white and grey embroidery. Above the coat of arms are three rows of drawnwork. Above the drawnwork is a white and gray embroidered vine of flowers that runs across the top and on the right and left side. The top corners of the cases have an appliqued flower drawnwork vase with five flowers that have drawnwork centers. The lower corners are plain but have three drawnwork vertical rows that meet the vining flower embroidery. The cases have an opening in the back that has 6 buttons running along the edge of the large cases and four buttons on the edge of the small case. These cases are part of a set that is seen in Mrs. Post's linen book and is number 10 in the book.
