About this object

A white linen, silk and cotton sheet and 4 pillow cases set. The major body of the sheet and pillow cases is made of linen. The border area of all is made of silk. The design elements are of appliqued and embroidered bows and flowers using cotton thread. On the pillow cases the embroidery and applique is framed by a scallop of silk material. The silk applique bows are in each corner of the cases and are highlighted with satin stitch circles and drawnwork tracings that shadow the bow design. Under the bows are cut applique flowers and these also run in a swag design between each bow. At the top of the case under the cutwork flowers is a monogram MPD executed in satin stitch in an Italian style. There are eight buttons that run along the opening of the back of the cases. The sheet design is of a larger pattern with nine bows running across the top and 39 inches up both sides. The monogram is nine inches high and seven inches wide.
