About this object

A cream colored silk satin bedspread with bobbin and needle lace trim. The hem trim on each side of the spread is of Bucks point bobbin lace. The hem at the top is plain with a small hem stitch. At the bottom of the spread the hem is of bobbin lace in a tape circle design. Working from the side hem to the center there is an 18 inch panel of satin attached in hem stitch. Next to this panel is a 10 inch panel of Buckinghamshire bobbin lace in a design of scrolls, cartouches, and mirror image flowers. There is a similar panel of bobbin lace from the hem on the opposite side. These bobbin lace panels have an eight inch section of satin at the top and the bottom. The center section between these two panels is satin with the Davies crest in the center. The crest is made of bobbin lace with areas of needle lace brides and picots. The bottom of the crest has the inscription IINTEGRITAS AUDACIA which is done in needle lace with a Bucks ground bobbin lace.
