About this object
Almost square with a round medallion in the center in sapphire blue worked in tones of mauve and gold with a sunburst and scattered stars. The medallion is bordered by a twisted cable motif and is surrounded by a garland of flowers and grapevines on a beige ground. In each corner of the central panel are small trophies on crossed swords with a bow and shell. Whole is enclosed by a sky blue frame containing a border of leaf scrolls with flowers and grapes, matching the central garland. There are four separate wreaths of flowers and leaves within squares at each corner of the rug.
