About this object

The horn is sizeable and tightly curled at the end. The horn cover has a projection for a thumbpiece and a cork inside to make it tight. The silver rim of the hinge is engraved in script. The hinge on the cover is composed of two openwork C-scrolls. In the center of the cover is a round silver medallion which is engraved with a tree trunk and two branches with leaves and a motto.
