About this object

The horn is short and stubby and of an unusual shape. The horn cover is triangular in shape and is lined with cork which is cut to fit. It has a point carved out for a thumbpiece. The silver rim is plain, but the actual hinge is cut out in a decorative pattern like a thistle and is engraved. On the cover is a silver shield.
