The ivory body of the tankard is carved in high relief with a freize of putti engaged in various activities out-of-doors. They are making garlands of flowers, carrying baskets of flowers, playing with a dove, embracing, gardening, playing horseback. On the top of the cover is a seated putto in ivory. He holds some grapes and sits with his legs off to the left. The silver mounting is probably modern and is decorated in repousse with strapwork designs and formalized floral motifs.
