About this object
The balls are cut to open. Each forms a triptych or diptych carved with some pseudo-historical scene. This roundel contains a tryptych with Louis XIV presenting the new King of Spain in court at Paris. The two sides contain courtiers who turn to face the central scene. The center contains three men dressed in elaborate court dress. The one on the far right bows to the one on the far left, who holds a cane in his hand.
