About this object

The bottom of the oval box is a piece of tortoise shell which is undecorated. The sides and hinge are made in silver which is also undecorated. On the cover is an oval piece of tortoiseshell inlaid with silver, and mother of pearl. It is decorated with a scene of two men. One is an old man with a syringe who chases a young man who is running away. On the ground are flowers.
