About this object

The entire outer surface of the oblong box is carved. On the cover in fine openwork is a small basket of fruit surrounded by feather-like leaf scrolls. The bottom is carved with various military trophies, including laurel leaves, two doves and crossed scabbards in the center. The ends and sides are carved with rosettes and leaves.
