About this object
The bos is round with a detachable cover. It is covered on the outside and on the bottom with a vertical striped design in straw. There is a tortoiseshell lining to the cover. In the center of the cover is a medallion in straw depicting a scene on a dock with sailors seated about a barrel smoking and drinking. The rest of the surface is covered with stripes in straw, some natural colored and some light green. Inside there is an inner cover with a large flower, leaves and birds in colored straws against a background of natural colored straw. The design is repeated in the bottom of the box.
