About this object

The round box has a cover which is detachable. The box is made from wood with fine turning and a lining in tortoiseshell. The cover has a scene in the center. This scene is a relief made in wax which shows a pavilion or "Temple of Love" in a garden. There is a young lady waiting in front of the pavilion. She is dressed in an 18th century costume. The frame for this miniature in wax is gold or gilt metal with leaf and floral decoration. The two outer borders ares plain.
