About this object

The chest is Chippendale style with an oval front, straight back, and separate carved wood stands with four legs and ball and claw feet. The chests open from the top, and there is a door cut in front. The edges are studded with nailheads. The top is covered with glass, and there is a bronze gallery at the back. There are bronze handles on each side. The top shows people in an interior. On the front are three scenes divided by plain vertical bands of brown leather. At the left is a landscape with a bridge, in the middle, a coach outside Ye George Inn, and at the right, the same bridge from the other side.
