About this object

This rectangular table is decorated in the traditional colors of Khokhloma lacquered wood--gold, black, brown, and green on an orange-red ground. A bold floral pattern is mirror-imaged on the two sides of the table top with a large leaf and vine ornament enclosing flowers and berries. Petal and leaf shading is rendered in black lines. A gold interlace with red diamond centers runs around the skirt and is painted on a black ground. The straight legs, ending with a flared foot, are painted gold with red borders on the outside and solid red on the inside.
