About this object
The statuette shows a scene with a woman approaching a sleeping warrior. It possibly depicts Samson and Delilah. Both are dressed in pseudo-classical costume. The woman has a loosely fitted robe painted with puce rosettes and lined with yellow. The warrior wears a cuirasse of which the upper part is in a brown and gray feather design, and the lower part is a skirt in green and red bands alternating with flowered bands. The warrior reclines on rocks and a tree stump which together with the base are painted in many colors.
