About this object

The dessert plate has a rim decorated with gilded rosettes and palmettes bordered by rows of tiny green rectangles. There are gold bands at the outer rim and framing the portrait painted in the center. The figure is a young man seated at a table leafing through a large volume. Another book lies on the table. He looks out at the viewer as he leans forward in his chair. He is wearing a brown frock coat with a white shirt. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
