About this object
Plain white dinner plate with a narrow blue band at rim and on cavetto. The main decoration is the shield of the Gothic, or Alexandria, Cottage at the top of the plate with a sword piercing a wreath of white roses on a blue ground. On the gold band forming the outer edge of the shield is the inscription in Cyrillic: "For Faith, Tsar, and Fatherland." This service, based on the Cottage Service, was designed for use on the Imperial Yacht Alexandria in 1851.

Translation: For Faith, Tsar and Fatherland. mark and date [Cipher of Nicholas II beneath Imperial crown] 1909 Stamped in green underglaze on underside. mark [Small brown dot on inside of foot] On underside, inside of foot, to lower right of mark. This was probably a painter's mark for tracking piecework.
