About this object
The urn consists of three separate parts: body, lid, and pedestal base. Two projecting handles are formed like coiled snakes. The body is covered with bold curving gadroons in high relief. The domed cover is covered with the same type of gadroon, and a button-like finial. This vase forms a pair with the urn on top of Marjorie Merriweather Post's monument (acc. no. 72.20).
