About this object
The top of this mantel is made from plain white marble, with white strips of marble at the bottom of the freize. The edging on the rectangular sides are made from mottled gray marble. On the freize, there is applied ormolu decoration in low relief. In the center are two goats with grape vines and a footed vase. On either side is a nymph with grape vines, and a basket of grapes at each end of freize. Below on each side are two hanging garlands of laurel leaves and berries.
