About this object
The seal is shaped like the bust of an old Russian warrior, identified as Russian hero Timofei Ermak (Yermak Timofeevich), who conquered Siberia. He has a full beard and moustache. He wears an old fashioned Russian type helmet and chain mail. On his chest is the double headed eagle. His right arms and hand are carved so that the right hand extends towards the front. It is after a print by Karl Briullov published in 1821. The bust sits on a circular base with channeled sides. It is uncut as a seal.
