About this object
The hinged box is oval and carved from amethyst quartz. The quartz is striated diagonally. The lid has a silver rim, which has a scalloped design. Within each scallop is a motif of three leaves. Between each scallop is a small dot. The lower rim also has a silver rim which is a straight band decorated with a series of dots.
