About this object
The bloodstone portion of the candlestick consists of a slender column with a projecting round section near the lower part, this whole resting on a steeped tripod bloodstone base with one edge with beading. The column is supported by three elaborate gilt bronze sections, the top with a cock's head, the base formed of a bird's claw foot and in between an out curving gilt bronze design with acanthus and laurel leaves. The capital is decorated with laurel leaves.
