About this object
Off-white plain-weave cotton and/or flax square coaster sparsely ornamented with various white work techniques. All of the corners feature approximately ¼” square areas where the plain weave was cut away for a hand crocheted motif of three sheaved stalks of wheat or husks of corn, orientated to the edge of the textile. The center is ornamented with an approximately 1” tall cut-away area with a hand crocheted standing bird. The coaster is finished with a drawn-work edge, rolled hem, and ornamented at each corner with seven corded loops.
