About this object

Conical-shaped cup with (on one side) a picture of a double-headed eagle and below the monogram A/NII with the date “26 May 1896”; on the other side, against the backdrop of an imperial mantle, two oval portraits of Nikolas II and Alexandra Feodorovna. At the top the Imperial crown the inscription “in Memory of the Holy Coronation.” (ВЪ ПАМЯТЬ СВЯЩЕННАГО КОРОНОВАНIЯ). The cup was made at the St. Petersburg Haimovich Tinware Factory, located on Vasilievsky Island, Dom 66. Haimovich, the owner of this factory, was a merchant and major manufacturer in St. Petersburg in this period. Haimovich House, was built in 1864-1866 by the engineer-architect, E.E. Anikinim, and survives to this day near St. Petersburg State University. Another example of this cup is in the collection of the St. Petersburg Museum of Ethnography, St. Petersburg (inv. No ERRz-6564)
