About this object

The crown sides are 3.5” of hand shirred satin ribbon stitched in three rows, placed every 3”. The top has a center medallion of plain organza with embroidered branch with (6) 4 petal flowers, two buds and two leaves, followed by two layers of lace, each with lace band and ruffled lace edge, the largest draping over the edge of the hat. On the right side (facing) are three roses (graduated sizes: 2.5”, 2”, and 1.5”D) with four sets of wired green leaves. On the left side (facing) are two more roses (1.5” each) with three sets of wired leaves. Brim is made in three layers. First ribbed organza with ruffled lace edge, second, pleated organza with ruffled lace edge and the third layer is placed over a petal scallop edge organza with machine-made lace .75” wide with inserts of the same lace every 1.5” around the crown, running out to the ruffled edge. Construction made with rib frame sewn into shirred organza, into buckram to maintain height of crown with flat top
