About this object

The order is a small figurine of an elephant with its trunk curved upward made in white enamel. It is carrying on its back a round turret topped by a ring for suspension, and a small figure of a Mahout. The turret has a flaring top with triangular sections and openwork, two bands of square colorless stones and a broad band of painted pink brickwork between them. On one side of the animal is a cross of colorless stones and on the other is a painted blue saddlecloth (caparison) with a crowned monogram. Another square stone is attached to the animal's forehead. The eyes are dark green stones set in copper colored mounts, the ears are slightly molded ovals, which are painted with gray stylized motifs, and the tusks are in relief and painted brown. The Mahout has fallen over backwards.
