About this object

The box is oval with a white ground. On the cover is an elaborate fox hunting scene in colors, with horsemen chasing a fox, and dogs in the foreground. The scene is within a raised gilt frame of scrolls on a white ground. The sides also have hunting scenes- on the front a stag hunt with two horsemen, on the back- a brook and three rabbits. A the ends, are clusters of flowers in colors. On the bottom is a spray of leaves and flowers in raised gilt. The gilt borders are ribbed and with scrolls.
