About this object

The handle of the dagger has a bone plaque on the front and back. Between these and also on the upper end of the steel blade is damascene work. The ivory is decorated with two medallions on each side. Each medallion contains a man in Oriental dress. This is a kard-a Persian knife with a straight hilt and no guard.
