About this object
Within a rectangular frame in the center of this brass icon is the Kazan Mother of God, her head inclined towards the Christ Child who faces the viewer with his right hand raised in blessing. Her halo is ornamented with foliate sprigs and flowers, which are repeated above her right shoulder. Raised slightly above the central frame is a lush border of grapes and flowers on scrolling vines in relief.
