About this object

Handle of ormolu key is the Russian double headed Imperial eagle in openwork, cast and chiselled, with the cipher of Alexander II on his breast. Eagle is not decorated on the back in contrast to the egle on the Catherine II key and there are three rings for attachement to a belt. Stem is reeded lengthwise and a garland of oak leaves is twined about it. Portion to turn key is X-shaped.
