Detailed information for this item

Catalog number:
13.79.1
Class:
NIELLO
Signature marks:
MARK St. George and the Dragon for Moscow, 84 in a square for silver standard, LO in Cyrillic for Oleks Lev (essayer in 1890-1896) /1889, NP in Cyriilic (?) Postnikova-Loseva gives dates for Oleks Lev as 1890-1896, however her reserch was based on the collection of the Historical Museum, and 1890 may be the earliest date on the objects in their collection. Hillwood spoons are marked with date 1889, and that may indicate that Oleks in fact became an asseyer a year earlier that previously was thought.
