About this object

Square with rounded edges and a mound like top. On each of the four sides is an upright oval each with a view of some part if the Kremlin. Scenes are in niello on a silver background. Rest of four sides of each box has an elaborate scroll work carved in the silver with a niello ground. Covers are shaped like a low mound. In center is a reserved medallion intended for a monogram. Background has same silver and niello scroll design as the side except one has intertwined in the background the Russian word for sugar. Both washed gold in interior.
