About this object

At tip of handle is the American eagle alighting with a banderolle which reads HERE WE REST. Next a doreman worker wielding a pickax and the name ALABAMA on a ribbon, next a bale of cotton, and lastly a cotton plant. Engraved in bowl, Birmingham, and on back of bowl a large gothic M. On abck is a building labeled STATE CAPITOL and below a rope, pick and shovel.
