About this object
The oval box is hinged. On the cover is an upright oval medallion containing the partly nude seated figures of Hercules and Omphale. He wears a red drapery, and she wears a yellow drapery. He holds a tamborine. This is done in painted enamel. On the rim of the cover, sides and bottom is an enamel band made of a white ribbon with green leaves intertwined with sprays of green leaves with pale blue fleurettes. The panels on the cover, sides and bottom are enamelled in dark red.
