About this object
Oval shaped body is in amethyst quartz. Lid mounted in gold with thumb piece formed of a cabochon emerald and sprays of leaves in tiny diamonds and rubies; on top a reclining lion in spinel with diamond eyes (probably a 17th century jewel). Around him is a row of emeralds and outside them a row of larger rose cut diamonds. This is probably an Indian mogul piece mounted by Fabergé on box.
