About this object
The shape of the box is a flattened oval. On the front and the back is an oval panel containing a tree in a landscape in low relief. This is surmounted by a garland of flowers and leaves. Below each are two cornucopias bearing flowers and leaves which form the bottom border. On the cover is a central medallion containing a basket of flowers. All this decoration is made in several colors of gold. The thumb piece is an old mine diamond. The base is plain so that the box can stand upright.
