Spooky Pooch Virtual Costume Contest

Hillwood's annual Spooky Pooch costume contest goes virtual!

Inspired by Marjorie Post’s affection for dogs and the memorial dog cemetery she created at Hillwood, we welcome you and your four-legged friends to join us from home for our first-ever online howl-o-ween celebration!

Dress up your pup and send us a photo or short video, following the instructions below.  Then join us live, online, via Zoom, to see the "parade" of photos and video clips of pups in costume and hear the contest winners announced.

Special features will include hearing Marjorie Post’s granddaughter, Ellen Charles, share stories about her grandmother’s four-legged friends and talking with Hillwood’s head of archives and special collections, Jason Speck, about historic images of Post and her pups.

Enter by Sunday, October 18!
Email your photos or short videos to programs@hillwoodmuseum.org by October 18 to enter the virtual costume contest.

Please include:  1) your dog’s name, 2) a costume name/description, and 3) let us know if the costume is homemade.

Winners will be selected in the following categories:
•    Best Homemade
•    Most Glamorous
•    Best Owner & Dog Combination Costume
•    Cutest
•    Funniest

You can also show off your pups in their Halloween finery by sharing your photos on social media using #HWSpookyPooch.

Winners will be emailed an official “paw-print certified” Spooky Pooch certificate, as well as winning bragging rights, and the envy and admiration of your fellow Spooky Pooch contestants!  The “Top Dog” prize winner receives an annual membership to Hillwood.

Want to visit Hillwood with your canine pal? Hillwood members enjoy the special benefit of exploring Hillwood's landscaped gardens and lush woodlands with their four-legged friends every Sunday morning, 9:30 a.m.-12 noon. Not a member? Join today.

Plan your visit today! To minimize physical contact and practice social distancing, reservations must be made in advance.
