About this object

Wood and metal striking bag (or punching bag) platform. Platform affixes to the wall so that the circular wooden brace is horizontal to the floor. Striking bag (now missing) suspends from the center of the circular wooden brace. The object was most likely part of the C.W. Post collection that was transferred from General Foods to Hillwood in 1978. An inventory of this collection from the Kraft General Foods archive lists a "punching bag" that "remains as a reminder of Mr. Post's desire to 'keep fit' even when he was kept at his desk for long hours by the demands of business."
