About this object

Sculptured stone Kasuga lantern with a molded columnar standard, on a natural rock base, collared in a banding of lotus petals. Supports a hexagonal paneled lantern with open and pierced apertures as well as solid panels with relief molded animals. Dome is surmounted by an inverted mushroom shaped finial on a narrow hexagonal base.
