About this object
Two armillary spheres in wrought iron, each standing on marble base. Designed by English architect J. Burnet, and cast by the Bromsgrove Guild in London. Each armillary is a celestial globe supported on the backs of three boys. Globe is topped by a pineapple finial, and surrounded by a band with the signs of the zodiac. Inside is a large glass globe which can be lit. The three boys are nude except for a small drapery. Their heads are bent forward and they have leaf garlands over their shoulders. Base is triangular and attached to a marble stand.
