About this object

The figurine is of a seated Guanyin, the Buddhist Bodhisattva of Mercy. She is dressed in flowing robes and has a high topknot on her head. Her eyes and face are downcast. She is seated cross legged and holds a string of prayer beads in her left hand. She is seated on two large lotus flowers, one on top of the other. One has the petals pointing upward and the other with petals pointing downward. The plain wooden round base has four feet.
