About this object

The vase is of the type called Tibetan and the jade is called mutton fat It is a pillar form tall vase. The round lower part bulges into a globular form in the neck. It is carved to simulate basketry in a ripple motif. On four sides, carved in high relief, hang pendants of leaves and flowers which are part of the vase. The jade base is separate and is carved all over even to a lotus where the vase rests on the base. The cover is carved with the same ripple motif on the lower section and with a lotus flower as the finial.
