About this object

This is a menu in French for a dinner held in Paris on May 23, 1933, on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Prebrazhenski Regiment by Peter the Great in 1683. It would have been attended by emigres, who had once been members of the regiment. A the top is a burst of light with the words in Cyrillic "God is with Us" Bluish gray clouds hang over a sketch of the skyline of St.Petersburg. A group of three soldiers in black uniforms with red trimming stand on a knoll in front of some green foliage. Two of them hold a yellow flag with the black double-headed eagle in the center. A large light blue bow is tied to the top of the pole. Two soldiers brandish guns, the third blows a trumpet. At their feet, is a red medallion framed with laurel leaves, containing the cipher of Peter I, flanked by a light blue banderole with the dates 1683 and 1933. Two pendant swags of leaves frame the printed menu. At the bottom is a gorgette flanked by leaves.
