About this object

Subject is a siberian exile shooting a black fox. The hunter is standing in the center of the print, facing to the left. He wears a hat with long ear flaps, long gloves, a belted coat, leggings, and snow shoes. To the left is a stand of pine trees, covered in snow, and many bushes, also covered in snow. To the far left, at the base of the tree is a black fox, standing on its hind legs and facing away from the hunter. To the right of the hunter is a small dog, straped with a small sled. He stands, facing to the left, at the feet of the hunter. There are a few skins on the sled. The rest of the background shows a cloudy sky and distant snow drifts.
